How we compare casinos

The same checks, applied to every brand, so a comparison is actually comparing like with like.

A comparison only means something if each brand is measured the same way. We run every casino through one routine and record what an everyday UK player would genuinely encounter — not what the marketing page claims.

The six checks

Offer clarity

We look at whether the headline offer is honest about its terms. Wagering requirements, time limits, game contribution rates and maximum-bet rules should be easy to find, not hidden a few clicks away. Clear beats generous when generous comes with traps.

Payments and withdrawals

Which methods are supported, what the realistic processing times look like, and how identity verification is handled. Every UK operator must verify players, so we note where that is smooth and where it tends to stall a first withdrawal.

Game range

Breadth across slots, live dealer and table games, and how quickly you can actually find what you want. A huge library is no use if the filters are broken.

Mobile play

Whether the mobile experience keeps full functionality or quietly strips features out. Most UK play happens on a phone, so this carries real weight.

Terms transparency

How readable the key terms are, and whether the parts that affect your money are written plainly. We reward operators that do not make you decode their rules.

Safer-gambling tools

Visibility of deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion, plus clear links to UK support services. Tools that are buried may as well not exist.

How the score is formed

Each check shapes an overall editorial score out of ten. It is a weighted judgement, not a formula you can game, and it leans towards the things that affect players most — chiefly payments and terms transparency. Two brands can share a number for very different reasons, which is why the written note always matters more.

What the score is not: it is not official, not a regulatory rating, and not a prediction of your results. It is our opinion, offered to help you shortlist and then check the operator yourself.

What we deliberately ignore

We do not score brands on the size of a bonus alone, because a large offer wrapped in heavy wagering can be worth less than a small, honest one. We also keep commercial relationships out of the editorial view — see our Editorial Review Policy for how that separation is kept.
